W+K SHANGHAI: LUAN DUN

Luan Dun first began as an internal cultural report, but with popular demand, it quickly grew into an on-going magazine shared across W+K's global networks as well as to the public.

Luan Dun was my mission to reveal the undercurrent of China beyond what is reported on global news, which often focuses on China's economy and politics. There is so much quirk, wonder, and craziness to the country than meets the eye.

The magazine's title was inspired by a hotpot dish from the north-eastern part of China, where all kinds of ingredients and flavors are cooked together in one big pot. Luan means chaos, which suggests that everything is truly mixed together.
